If you are a first home time buyer or know of someone who is thinking about purchasing a home, there are tremendous benefits to purchasing this year. Besides the $8,000 Federal tax credit I mentioned before, the City of Chico and City of Paradise offer first time home buyers a subsidy program that can further assist you with getting into your home. These programs are fantastic with up to $70,000 in interest-free loans.
If you are interested, there is more information about the City of Chico's program on their website(See the link below). The City of Chico's program gets funded each year on July 1st and applications are starting to get submitted. There are some requirements that a borrower needs to meet to receive the assistance, such as taking a class on homeownership, etc. If this is something that interests you, please dont delay. Last year, the program ran out of money after 4 months.
